Aron Canet finally broke his Moto2 victory curse, securing his first win in the intermediate category after a crash by Alonso Lopez in Portugal.

Fermin Aldeguer, Ducati’s newest signing for 2025, took the lead early on but jumped the start, resulting in two penalties he had to serve within three laps.

With teammate Lopez comfortably leading before his crash, Canet took control of the race and never looked back, building a two-second advantage over the rest of the pack.

Joe Roberts had a good start and climbed to second place, a result he will be pleased with on a track that suits his style. This brings positivity to the American Racing Team as they prepare for their home race at the Circuit of the Americas next month.

Manuel Gonzalez, who started on pole, had a tough start but fought to secure a place on the podium.

After serving his penalties, Aldeguer dropped down the order but made an impressive comeback to finish in fourth place.

Canet’s victory brought pure joy as he celebrated prematurely on the final lap by lifting his leg and waving his arm.

Teammates Ai Ogura and Sergio Garcia finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively, continuing their strong performances from the previous race in Qatar.

A fierce battle between Celestino Vietti, Albert Arenas, and Marcos Ramirez resulted in all three riders finishing within less than half a second of each other.

Somkiat Chantra rounded out the top 10, adding points to his season tally.

Canet’s win was a tribute to his grandfather and his wife’s grandfather, adding an emotional touch to his victory.
