The National Republican Guard (GNR) and the Public Security Police (PSP) recorded 29,531 infractions in the last seven days, 829 of which were related to the use of seat belts, helmets, and child seats.
During the campaign jointly organized by the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), GNR, and PSP, which took place from April 5 to 11, 4.5 million vehicles were inspected, and 2543 accidents were recorded, resulting in six fatalities, 47 serious injuries, and 750 minor injuries.
“Compared to the same period in 2023, there were 44 fewer accidents, 10 fewer fatalities, nine fewer serious injuries, and 54 fewer minor injuries”, highlights the ANSR statement.
The joint statement from ANSR, GNR, and PSP explains that during the campaign period, which aimed to alert drivers and passengers to the importance of always using, and correctly, safety devices, “671 drivers and passengers were sensitized, to whom various messages were conveyed about the importance of the correct use of safety devices.”
This was the fourth of the 12 awareness and enforcement campaigns planned under the 2024 National Inspection Plan (PNF). By the end of the year, eight more campaigns will be carried out, one per month, with awareness and enforcement actions.
