Cadillac F1 Team Prioritizes Merit Over Favoritism: Insights into Driver Selection for 2026 Season

Cadillac’s 2026 F1 Debut Sends Shockwaves Through Miami Grand Prix

In a jaw-dropping turn of events at the Miami Grand Prix, Cadillac is set to steal the spotlight with the unveiling of its 2026 F1 livery, sending shockwaves through the motorsport world. Fans are on the edge of their seats in anticipation of the American brand’s grand reveal ahead of its highly-anticipated entry into the prestigious racing series.

The excitement is palpable as Cadillac gears up to showcase its brand-new look at a special event on Saturday, 3 May, promising a spectacle that will feature top personalities like team principal Graeme Lowdon, team CEO Dan Towriss, and even Hollywood A-listers gracing the red carpet in celebration.

Dubbed as the “cultural centrepiece” of the race weekend, the Cadillac Club is where all the action will unfold, promising a feast for the senses as the luxury brand makes its mark on the F1 scene.

The journey to F1 glory has been a tumultuous one for Cadillac, starting under the Andretti banner with support from General Motors. After facing initial rejection from Formula One Management despite FIA approval in late 2023, the team underwent a significant restructuring with Dan Towriss taking the helm from Michael Andretti.

With General Motors taking on a more prominent role, Cadillac secured its spot as the 11th team in F1, albeit at a staggering cost of a reported $450 million anti-dilution fee.

As the high-stakes Miami Grand Prix approaches, all eyes are on the team’s driver lineup. Speculation is rife, with former Red Bull ace Sergio Perez and three-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou linked to the coveted seats. While nothing has been confirmed officially, racing legend Mario Andretti hinted at Perez being a strong contender, praising young gun Liam Lawson for pushing the Mexican driver to new heights.

In contrast, Palou seems to have shifted his focus away from the Cadillac seat, indicating that his Formula 1 aspirations may have taken a back seat following past disappointments.

The stage is set for a thrilling debut for Cadillac in F1, promising a riveting chapter in motorsport history as the luxury automaker revs up for its maiden voyage in the fast lane.
