Cadillac Racing Strengthens Leadership Team with Key Appointments for Global Motorsports Expansion

The No. 01 Cadillac Racing Cadillac races into the sunset during the Rolex 24 at Daytona at Daytona International Speedway, Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024.

Cadillac Racing has announced significant additions to its leadership team, reinforcing its commitment to prototype racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The move underscores General Motors’ focus on motorsports as a platform for engineering innovation and leadership development.

New Leadership for a New Era

The leadership overhaul includes the appointment of Keely Bosn as the new Cadillac Racing program manager, succeeding Laura Wontrop Klauser. Bosn will oversee Cadillac’s top-tier prototype racing efforts, ensuring seamless operations across IMSA and WEC programs.

“Motorsports remains a key platform for General Motors to hone engineering and leadership skills in a fast-paced, highly competitive environment,” GM said in a statement. “These new roles reflect the level of resources and investment GM is making in its global motorsports initiatives.”

Technical and Propulsion Expertise Bolstered

Xavier Marcos Padros – Technical Director

Cadillac Racing has appointed Xavier Marcos Padros as its new technical director. Padros brings extensive engineering expertise, having worked as a race engineer for Scuderia Ferrari in Formula 1, most recently alongside Charles Leclerc. His impressive career spans roles at HRT and Williams in F1, and as chief race engineer for Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2015 to 2017.

Padros will focus on advancing Cadillac’s ARX-06 prototype, driving innovations in engineering, car performance, and development.

Sean O’Shea – Propulsion Manager

Joining as propulsion manager, Sean O’Shea will oversee the performance and development of Cadillac’s 5.5-liter V8 engine and its spec electric motor components. O’Shea, who began his career with Bosch Motorsport and Mazda’s ‘Go Diesel’ program, joined GM in 2015. He has since contributed to advanced propulsion systems, including military applications and the Chevrolet Blazer EV police vehicle, the first pursuit-rated electric vehicle.

Investing in the Future of Motorsports

The updated leadership structure signals GM’s dedication to advancing Cadillac Racing’s competitive edge in the evolving world of global motorsports. With Padros and O’Shea bringing diverse expertise from Formula 1, NASCAR, and EV propulsion development, the team is poised to push boundaries in both engineering and performance.

Looking Ahead

Cadillac Racing is set to make waves in 2025 as it continues to compete in the highly competitive GTP class in IMSA and the WEC’s Hypercar category, leveraging its bolstered leadership team and cutting-edge technology. With the ARX-06 at the forefront of its efforts, Cadillac is firmly positioning itself as a dominant force in prototype racing.
