BYD is preparing to launch the U7, a 100% electric model that is expected to have a range of up to 800 km. Created by BYD’s luxury division, the YangWang U7 is a four-door coupe-style sedan that joins a range that already includes the U8 SUV.
The data regarding the range of the new U7 has now been revealed by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), after BYD requested the necessary authorization for the commercialization of the new model.
According to “CarNewsChina” which cites MIIT, the new luxury sedan from BYD will make use of a 135.5 kWh LFP battery, produced by FinDreams, a subsidiary of BYD, which allows for a range of up to 720 km for the base version and up to 800 km for the top-of-the-range variant.
It is already known that the YangWang U7 has a body designed by Wolfgang Egger, former designer at Audi, with an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.195 Cd. In addition, it uses four electric motors, one per wheel, for a total output of 1020 hp.
It is worth recalling that in addition to the U7, YangWang is also working on the U9 supercar.
