The CEO of BYD, Wang Chuanfu, announced that the Chinese brand expects to establish its European headquarters in Hungary soon.
The announcement was made on Thursday to journalists following Wang Chuanfu’s meeting with Hungary’s president, Viktor Orban, in Budapest.
Wang recognized Hungary as one of the centers of the global automotive industry, with well-developed infrastructure and an established industrial base, and stated that placing the company’s European headquarters in the country is a milestone for BYD and a tangible proof of cooperation between China and Hungary.
According to the CEO of BYD, the establishment of the European headquarters will create 2,000 jobs and consolidate sales and after-sales services, as well as vehicle certification and testing, in addition to model planning and development.
It is worth noting that BYD has had a factory in Hungary since 2016, located in the city of Komarom, which assembles electric buses. Furthermore, the Chinese brand is currently building a new factory that will produce electrified vehicles intended for the European market.
