According to BYD, its models travel over 100 million kilometers per day, and the brand is making use of the massive amounts of data and information resulting from this to accelerate the development of driving assistance technologies, namely the algorithms essential for the introduction of increasingly intelligent solutions. By the end of September last year, the Chinese manufacturer had sold over 1.7 million cars equipped with driving assistance systems (in that month alone, nearly 296,000 cars equipped with this technology were sold in the domestic market, accounting for more than 90% of the total), in addition to significantly increasing investment in this area, having even introduced updated versions of systems like “God’s Eye,” for example, in about 20 of its own models or the sub-brands it owns.
Considering the pace at which the Chinese market is growing (almost 3.2 million cars sold just in September, including 1.6 million electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles), and the exponential increase in exports, it is expected that the impressive number of 100 million kilometers recorded every day will quickly rise, both in China and in international markets. Thus, BYD will be increasingly approaching the limits of what is possible to offer in terms of driving assistance.
