BYD presented its new electric vehicle platform, the ‘Super e-Platform’, along with two 100% electric models, the Han L EV and the Tang L EV, this Monday.

The new platform, which the Chinese brand claims can enable charging as fast as refueling with gasoline, features maximum charging speeds of 1,000 kW, allowing vehicles to travel 400 km with just 5 minutes of charging.
According to the company, the Blade batteries have been optimized to allow for faster ion transfer in the electrolyte and lower resistance through the diaphragm, resulting in quicker charging.
At an event held at BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen, Wang Chuanfu, the company’s founder, announced that “To completely resolve the charging anxiety of electric vehicle drivers, our goal is to make the charging time for electric vehicles as short as the refueling time for gasoline vehicles.”

It should be noted that fast charging technology is seen as essential for the growth of electric mobility, as it addresses the concerns of electric vehicle drivers regarding the ability to quickly charge the batteries of their fully electric vehicles.
BYD also revealed in this presentation a new supercharger that supports up to 1,000 kW of power, double the peak power of Tesla’s V4 supercharger, announcing plans to build over 4,000 charging stations equipped with this supercharger, featuring energy storage systems to ensure charging capacity even in areas with limited electrical infrastructure.

At the event, BYD also presented two new fully electric models, the Han L and the Tang L, which are already equipped with the new charging architecture. The first, a sedan, will be available in versions with one or two electric motors. The entry-level version, with a single motor, delivers 670 hp. The version with two motors and all-wheel drive boasts an impressive 1,086 hp, allowing for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 305 km/h. Both versions are equipped with an 83.2 kWh battery, which promises a range between 601 and 701 km (CLTC cycle).
The BYD Tang L is a 7-seater SUV that shares the same powertrain as the Han L, but it is equipped with a 100.5 kWh battery, promising a range of 560 km, 600 km, and 670 km (CLTC cycle). The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.6 seconds, and the announced top speed is 287.4 km/h.
