Michelin has announced that it has been chosen as the tire supplier for the new model from BYD, the 100% electric Sealion 7.
The coupé SUV from the Chinese brand, a global leader in vehicles powered by new energy, comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires that feature the most innovative technology to combine high performance and efficiency.
The tires selected to equip the Sealion 7 are the result of Michelin’s accumulated experience in competition and collaboration over more than ten years with leading electric vehicle manufacturers. They meet BYD’s needs to maximize the performance of its new coupé SUV, thanks to technologies such as the “ElectricGrip Compound,” a compound with a high rigidity central profile that allows for efficient transmission of the high torque of electric vehicles.
Additionally, the Pilot Sport EV tires feature “MaxTouch Construction” technology, a structure that, according to Michelin, provides high wear resistance, a key factor in electric vehicles like the Sealion 7, which has a higher weight due to the battery and a high acceleration capacity. Furthermore, these tires also incorporate technology that dampens resonance, thanks to a specific polyurethane foam inside the tire, to reduce noise felt inside the vehicle.
Remember that the BYD Sealion 7 is offered with two battery capacities, and in versions with one motor and rear-wheel drive, or with two motors and all-wheel drive, and it claims a range of up to 502 km. The more powerful version, with 530 hp and 690 Nm of maximum torque, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
