A BYD, a Chinese manufacturer of electric vehicles, may choose to build its first factory in Europe in Hungary, in order to consolidate its bet on the Old Continent market.
The decision, not yet officially revealed, is reported by the German newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung“, which cites unofficial sources, although the brand has already announced that a final decision will be made by the end of the year.
It should be remembered that BYD’s Executive Vice President, Stella Li, stated in early 2023 that the brand intends to build cars in Europe, but that the brand would proceed with feasibility studies in that direction.
The choice of Hungary may thus be a viable option, especially since BYD already has a bus production unit in that country since 2016.
