The BYD announced the start of the preliminary phase of construction of a state-of-the-art production unit in Hungary.
The new BYD factory, the first for the production of passenger light vehicles in Europe, will be located in Szeged, in southeastern Hungary, and will be dedicated to the production of 100% electric cars for the European market.
The construction of the facilities will be carried out in phases, and the factory is expected to be open and operational within three years, to produce a complete range of new models.
It is worth noting that since its arrival in Europe in 2022, BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles, is currently present in 19 European countries, including Portugal, where it is present with a range of six fully electric models, the latest of which is the Seal U.
