Buemi Shocks Monaco with Emphatic Formula E Win After Six-Year Drought

Sebastien Buemi Breaks Six-Year Winning Drought in Formula E Showdown

In a jaw-dropping turn of events, Sebastien Buemi has shattered his Formula E dry spell by clinching his first race victory since July 2019. The Envision team also celebrated their first win since the 2023 season finale in a thrilling and unexpected triumph during the damp second Monaco race.

Buemi strategically seized the opportunity amidst a chaotic battle for the lead between pole-sitter Oliver Rowland from Nissan, Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries, and DS Penske’s Jean-Eric Vergne. With a stroke of genius, Buemi activated his attack mode, swiftly overtaking De Vries after Sainte Devote and then swiftly pulling ahead.

As the pace-setter of the weekend, Rowland, struggled to catch up after delaying his attack mode usage, Buemi had already secured a comfortable lead of over three seconds. This victory propels Buemi to the forefront of Formula E history with a record-breaking 14 race wins, surpassing Lucas di Grassi and Mitch Evans. Additionally, this marks Buemi’s third Formula E triumph in Monaco, solidifying his dominance on the iconic street circuit.

Nick Cassidy from Jaguar also made a significant breakthrough by clinching his first podium of the 2024-25 season, valiantly fending off Antonio Felix da Costa from Porsche to claim third place. Meanwhile, De Vries and Vergne had to settle for fifth and sixth place respectively after a fierce on-track battle.

The final standings of the race are as follows:
1. Sebastien Buemi (Envision)
2. Oliver Rowland (Nissan)
3. Nick Cassidy (Jaguar)
4. Antonio Felix da Costa (Porsche)
5. Nyck de Vries (Mahindra)
6. Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Penske)
7. Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche)
8. Maximilian Guenther (DS Penske)
9. Jake Dennis (Andretti)
10. Stoffel Vandoorne (Maserati MSG)

Sebastien Buemi’s triumphant return to the winner’s circle has undoubtedly shaken up the Formula E landscape, setting the stage for an exhilarating season ahead.
