The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season is shaping up to be a make-or-break year for Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing. After a frustrating 2024 campaign that saw Wallace miss the playoffs, the No. 23 team is hitting the reset button—with a new crew chief, a revamped strategy, and a clear goal: win early and win often.

For too long, 23XI Racing has relied on a late-season push to salvage playoff hopes. But history has proven that strategy to be risky and unsustainable. This year, Wallace is ditching the slow start approach and committing to an aggressive, all-out push from the very first green flag.

Wallace’s Mission: Win Early, Dominate Late

Speaking with Fox 32, Wallace laid out his mindset for the 2025 season, making it clear that he isn’t waiting for the playoffs to turn up the heat.

“That’s the only goal I have set in mind—just win. You know, win and win early. I always like to win in the playoffs, so I feel like our team is hungry enough and capable enough.”

The No. 23 Toyota team has often found itself playing catch-up, showing flashes of brilliance only in the second half of the season. But Wallace knows that in NASCAR’s ultra-competitive Cup Series, waiting until the summer to hit peak form is a recipe for disaster.

“We’ve got all the right people in the right spots to go out and compete each and every weekend. It’s just a matter of getting that final spark lit to capitalize on opportunities. When you’re at the Cup level, those opportunities don’t come by often, so when they do, we’ve got to be ready for them.”

New Crew Chief, New Leadership: Can Charles Denike Unlock Wallace’s Full Potential?

A major piece of Wallace’s 2025 reboot comes in the form of a fresh crew chief. With longtime leader Bootie Barker stepping down, 23XI Racing has handed the keys to Charles Denike, a proven winner in the Craftsman Truck Series.

While Denike is making his Cup Series crew chief debut, Wallace sees him as the right man for the job.

“I got to meet Charles last year for the first time… He’s super smart, he’s come from a military background. So he’s just very punctual, very set.”

Denike’s disciplined, strategic approach could provide the structured leadership Wallace has been missing. And with nine Truck Series wins under his belt, Denike knows what it takes to win in NASCAR’s grueling format.

While the jump from Trucks to Cup is massive, Wallace believes that Denike’s analytical mind and winning mentality could be exactly what the team needs to start delivering consistent results.

Can 2025 Be the Breakout Year for Wallace and 23XI?

With Toyota’s backing, Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan’s leadership, and a strong internal team, 23XI Racing has all the tools to succeed. But as Wallace and his team have learned, execution is everything.

  • New strategy: Win early, secure playoff positioning, and stop relying on late-season miracles.
  • New leadership: Denike’s military precision and Truck Series-winning experience bring fresh direction.
  • New mentality: Wallace is done with playing it safe—he wants to contend from the start.

As the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season dawns, the pressure is on. But for Bubba Wallace, pressure creates diamonds—and this might just be the season he cements himself as a true title contender.
