Brundle: Ferrari won’t wait for Hamilton to find form in 2025

Lewis Hamilton’s long-anticipated debut for Scuderia Ferrari comes with sky-high expectations, and F1 pundit Martin Brundle has issued a stark warning: Ferrari won’t give the seven-time champion much time to settle in. After leaving Mercedes following two challenging seasons, Hamilton now faces the pressure of delivering results almost immediately for the Prancing Horse.

No room for excuses: Ferrari demands immediate results

Brundle, known for his sharp insights, stressed that Ferrari would expect Hamilton to hit the ground running within the first two or three races of the 2025 season. “There are no excuses at this level for anybody, even the rookies,” Brundle asserted. “For somebody like Lewis, they will expect him within two or three races to have aced the people around him and the car.”

With teammate Charles Leclerc already entrenched as a cornerstone of Ferrari’s plans, Hamilton will need to match his pace early on to avoid falling into a support role. The Italian team’s storied legacy and relentless fanbase add to the urgency, as Hamilton aims to recapture his best form in an unforgiving environment.

Ferrari’s winter gains: A golden opportunity?

The 2025 grid promises fierce competition, with Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari all showing race-winning potential last season. However, Brundle suggested that Ferrari may have made the most progress over the winter, creating an ideal stage for Hamilton to shine.

“At the moment, the feeling is Ferrari might have improved the car a little bit more than say McLaren or others,” Brundle said, hinting that the Scuderia could start the season with a performance edge.

Yet, pre-season optimism often comes with a caveat. Teams are known to conceal their true performance levels during testing, and Ferrari must prove their gains once the season kicks off in Melbourne.

Hamilton’s high-stakes debut

Hamilton’s Ferrari debut isn’t just about personal redemption; it’s also about leading the team to its first championship since 2008. While his experience and pedigree make him a formidable addition to the Scuderia, he must quickly adapt to the new car and establish synergy with the team to take full advantage of Ferrari’s winter development gains.

Brundle’s assessment underscores the stakes: Ferrari is not a team that tolerates underperformance for long, and Hamilton must deliver from the outset to solidify his role within the team.

A battle at the front

As the 2025 season approaches, the stage is set for a thrilling battle among F1’s elite teams. Ferrari’s reported progress could see them emerge as genuine title contenders, but Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes remain formidable opponents. For Hamilton, the road to an eighth world championship is paved with high expectations, relentless scrutiny, and no margin for error.
