British GT driver Cottingham is poised to make his debut in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) alongside United Autosports.

United Autosports has announced that James Cottingham will be joining them for the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship. Cottingham, who was the vice-champion in the 2023 British GT, will be driving the #59 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo alongside Gregoire Saucy and another driver who will be announced later. Cottingham, a 40-year-old Bronze driver, began GT racing in 2021 and had an impressive season with three race wins and two podium finishes. He expressed his excitement about working with McLaren Automotive and United Autosports, stating that it has been a lifelong dream of his to race at Le Mans and compete in a World Championship. Despite only having two and a half years of racing experience in modern motorsport, Cottingham is ready for the challenge and is fully dedicated to the FIA World Endurance Championship this year. Richard Dean, the CEO of United Autosports, praised Cottingham as a strong addition to their 2024 WEC lineup and expressed the team’s excitement for their debut in Qatar. United Autosports, based in Yorkshire, will be competing in the new LMGT3 category with McLaren machinery, adding to their already impressive experience in LMP2 and LMP3 competition. The FIA WEC season will kick off in Qatar with the pre-season Prologue test on February 24-25, followed by the season-opener on March 2.
