The return of NASCAR to Bowman Gray Stadium has electrified North Carolina, with fans snapping up all 17,000 tickets for the inaugural “Cook Out” Clash. As the sport revisits this iconic venue after more than 50 years, Rick Ware Racing (RWR) is pulling out all the stops to ensure a historic victory, and they’ve enlisted a local legend—Tim Brown—to make it happen.

The Madhouse Beckons

Nicknamed “The Madhouse,” Bowman Gray Stadium is notorious for its high-octane, contact-heavy racing. The quarter-mile oval, with its narrow lanes and limited passing opportunities, promises chaos, strategy, and nail-biting drama.

Rick Ware, team owner and former racer, knows exactly what’s at stake:
“There’s a lot of roughing up because you don’t have any choice. You have to move pretty quickly to get by, and that’s the way it is at Bowman Gray on a regular basis,” Ware said. “It’s the first race of the year, and everyone’s going all out for the win.”

The combination of Bowman Gray’s unpredictable nature and the prestige of the Clash makes it a must-win for teams looking to kick off the season in style.

Why Tim Brown?

Rick Ware’s decision to recruit Tim Brown, the winningest driver in Bowman Gray’s history, is a strategic masterstroke. With 101 modified race victories, including 12 at this very track, Brown is a household name in the local racing scene. His expertise at “The Madhouse” gives RWR a significant edge over competitors.

“Personally, he’s the kind of guy that will triple-check something just because of his OCD and wanting it to be perfect,” Ware noted about Brown. “He’s going to prepare like it’s a million dollars to win a modified race.”

Brown’s meticulous approach and unrivaled knowledge of the track could be the key to unlocking a historic NASCAR victory for RWR.

High Stakes, High Effort

The “Cook Out” Clash isn’t just another race—it’s a statement. Ware explained why teams are going above and beyond for this event:
“It’s the inaugural event, and we’re looking for people likely to put those [trophies] on their trophy case. It’s really cool.”

The Clash also offers a “get-out-of-jail-free card,” as Ware put it, allowing drivers to race aggressively without worrying about points implications. With tensions high and the stakes even higher, the race is shaping up to be a brutal battle for supremacy.

Can Tim Brown Deliver?

Tim Brown’s experience and success at Bowman Gray make him a top contender for the win. However, he’s not letting his competitors in on his secrets, playing his cards close to the chest.
“I don’t wish to share any tricks of the trade,” Brown said, emphasizing his focus on delivering a flawless performance for RWR.

Brown and RWR are united in their pursuit of victory, bringing unmatched preparation and a wealth of local knowledge to the table. If anyone can conquer “The Madhouse” on NASCAR’s historic return, it’s Brown.

The Bigger Picture

For NASCAR, the sold-out crowd and overwhelming enthusiasm for the “Cook Out” Clash are proof of the sport’s deep roots in grassroots venues like Bowman Gray. For Rick Ware Racing, a win would cement their place in history as the team that conquered NASCAR’s return to one of its most iconic tracks.
