Valtteri Bottas, the Finnish driver for Sauber, remained silent regarding rumors of his possible return to the Williams Formula 1 team in 2025. Reports suggest that Bottas had a secret meeting with Williams chief, James Vowles, in Imola, but he expressed his intention to stay at Sauber as they prepare for Audi’s arrival in 2026. However, it seems that Sauber is looking for a new lineup, as they recently announced the signing of Nico Hulkenberg from Haas and openly considered Carlos Sainz as well. Bottas admitted to talking to other teams to secure his future in the sport, as there are several vacancies available at the back of the grid. Despite stating last week that he was certain he would stay in the series next season, Bottas was seen entering the Williams motorhome over the weekend, raising speculation about his possible return. When asked about his conversation with Vowles, Bottas downplayed its significance, stating they were just discussing normal life things. He emphasized that it is common for a free agent to explore their options when in the market. On the other hand, Vowles revealed that he is considering three concrete options for the vacant seat in 2025/2026, but cannot disclose details at the moment. He acknowledged that Logan Sargeant, who has been struggling, is at risk and they need to perform at the highest level. While Sargeant has control over his own performance, Vowles admitted they are also in negotiations with other potential candidates.
