Bottas revela negociações para garantir seu futuro na Fórmula 1 após 2024.

The Sauber driver, Valtteri Bottas, shared that he is currently in negotiations to secure his position on the Formula 1 grid beyond 2024. Bottas’ current contract with the Swiss team will end at the conclusion of this season, but he has expressed his desire to extend his stay for the Audi acquisition. When asked about the progress of his talks with Sauber and other teams, Bottas revealed that he and his management team have initiated preliminary discussions. The outcome of the 2024 season is likely to play a significant role in determining Bottas’ future, whether with his current team or potential opportunities elsewhere. “I am gradually starting to make progress. However, there have not been major developments yet,” admitted Bottas during the Japanese Grand Prix. “I believe we need more races this season and, hopefully, with positive results, things will start to gain momentum, though not significantly at this stage.” However, the 34-year-old driver acknowledged the possibility of being left without a team, which has motivated him to work towards securing his future as soon as possible. “That’s why it’s important to stay ahead of the game. My management team is actively working behind the scenes,” he explained. “I focus on my driving, while they assess the market and explore different options, if necessary.”

Bottas joined Sauber before the 2022 season, when it was still known as Alfa Romeo. However, the team’s performance has declined since its impressive start under ground effect rules.

Nevertheless, the Finnish driver, who has won races ten times with Mercedes, sees Audi’s imminent entry in 2026 as an opportunity to regain his position at the front of the sport’s grid.

“Being part of Audi could be a fantastic opportunity for me to do just that. Naturally, this piques my interest,” he expressed.

Delving into his future plans, Bottas admitted that he longs for the feeling of competing at the front of the pack since his departure from Mercedes in 2021.

Currently in his twelfth season in Formula 1, Bottas remains determined to achieve more and prefers not to set a specific timeline for a potential retirement.

“I don’t want to assign a specific number to the remaining years of my career. I don’t see the end approaching yet,” he stated.

“I still believe I have a lot to offer and many goals to achieve. Right now, my motivation is to get closer to the top. I miss the thrill of fighting at the front.”

Bottas believes that his extensive experience in the series will be an attractive factor in his favor, along with his reputation as a cooperative team member.

“The more experience you have, the better you can adapt to various circumstances,” Bottas continued.

“I hope this becomes my strength. Furthermore, it’s important for them to know that I work well with anyone as a team player.”
