However, he has made it clear that his “priority” is to stay with Sauber until Audi joins Formula 1 in 2026. As a result, Hamilton has decided to activate a break clause in his contract and move to Ferrari for the upcoming season. Bottas expressed surprise at Hamilton’s decision but understands the appeal of reviving Ferrari’s fortunes. Speaking at the unveiling of Sauber’s livery for the 2024 season, Bottas acknowledged the challenge and motivation Hamilton would have in bringing Ferrari to the top. As Mercedes searches for Hamilton’s replacement, a social media post revealed that Bottas recently visited Brackley, where the Mercedes team is based. It is speculated that Bottas could be a short-term solution as an experienced partner for George Russell. However, Bottas reiterated that his main ambition is to stay with Sauber until it transforms into Audi in 2026.
