The BMW XM Label Red, the most powerful production vehicle from the German brand to date, with 748 hp of power and a torque of 1,000 Nm, set a new record for hybrid SUVs at Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, in the United States, by covering the approximately 20 km of mountain and over 150 curves in 10:48.60 minutes.
After an initial attempt to achieve the record in June, during the 101st edition of the classic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race, BMW driver Matt Mullins completed the course again in September, ultimately setting a new record aboard the BMW XM Label Red, surpassing the previous record by almost one and a half seconds.
It is worth noting that the BMW XM Label Red combines a V8 engine that delivers 585 hp of power and a maximum torque of 750 Nm, with a 197 hp electric motor and 280 Nm of torque. This value can increase to 450 Nm thanks to a BMW technology for increasing performance between the electric motor rotor and the transmission shaft.
The electric motor is powered by a 25.7 kWh battery that allows for 100% electric autonomy between 75-83 km.
These numbers allow the XM Label Red to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h or even 290 km/h when equipped with the M Driver package.
