BMW will integrate the Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the Chinese startup DeepSeek into its upcoming models aimed at the Chinese market.
The CEO of BMW, Oliver Zipse, quoted by local media, explained at the Shanghai Auto Show that “crucial advancements in AI are being made” in China, making it the right time for the German brand to incorporate Artificial Intelligence into its vehicles.
“We are strengthening our alliances to integrate AI into our vehicles in China”, stated the CEO of BMW, who made it clear that the first models featuring DeepSeek’s technology will hit the market later this year.
With this new partnership, BMW will keep pace with Chinese electric vehicle brands in China, such as Zeekr, which have already adopted DeepSeek’s AI in their models.
It is worth noting that in recent years, many foreign car brands in China have experienced declines in sales as local brands with more affordable and technologically advanced electric vehicles gain ground.
