Last May, BMW revealed the prototype Speedtop at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance in Italy, which presented a combination of Touring spirit with the elegance of a shooting brake, reinterpreted with unique proportions and striking design.
More recently, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse confirmed that all 70 units that the brand will produce of the Speedtop have already been sold, immediately selling out after the model was presented on the shores of Lake Como in May.
BMW has not revealed the price of the Speedtop, but Oliver Zipse stated that each unit was sold “in a price range never reached” by the company. According to BMW Blog, the price of each unit of the Speedtop is estimated to be above €500,000, in line with the Skytop, which in turn is limited to only 50 units worldwide.
In terms of engine, the Speedtop is equipped with the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, the most powerful in the BMW range, with 625 hp and 750 Nm, exclusively paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive xDrive, which the German brand claims offers a driving experience worthy of its design.
On the outside, the Speedtop stands out with its dynamic silhouette, highlighting the visually long front end, illuminated shark nose-shaped grille, sleek front headlights, and a pronounced central line that extends from the hood to the rear spoiler.
With the sales success of the Skytop and Speedtop, it will not be surprising if BMW soon presents another exclusive and limited edition model.
