BMW announced this Wednesday that it will begin series production of the new iX3, the first model from the German manufacturer of the new era Neue Klasse, at the new factory in Debrecen, Hungary, starting at the end of October.
In a statement, BMW announced that the start of production of the iX3 opens a new era in the brand’s automotive production. “Our new factory in Debrecen has been designed and built entirely in line with our strategic vision of the iFactory. Digital from the start, the factory will offer a new dimension in terms of efficient production without fossil fuels”, said Milan Nedeljković, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for production.
The production capacity of the new factory will gradually increase after the start of production, with the first vehicle scheduled to roll off the assembly line at the end of 2025 and sales starting in Europe in March 2026.
Remember that the new iX 3 debuts the Gen6 platform, efficient electric motors, high-voltage batteries with cylindrical cells, and 800-volt technology. Generating 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque, the iX3 50 xDrive, the first model to hit the market, promises to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 210 km/h.
