BMW is preparing to present the new M5 Touring on August 15th during the Monterey Car Week in California, USA.
After months of suspense, the German brand will introduce, for the third time in its history, after the E34 and E61, the Series 5 in wagon version with the signature of the Munich brand’s sports division.
The new model is expected to follow in the footsteps of the four-door sedan and come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo gasoline engine with 585 hp and an electric motor with 197 hp, integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, powered by an 18.6 kWh battery, which promises a range of up to 69 km in 100% electric mode, and AC charging up to 7.4 kW. This way, the combined power is 727 hp, with a maximum torque of 1000 Nm.
Furthermore, the new M5 is expected to come with a standard active differential lock on the rear axle and variable stiffness damping, 20” alloy wheels at the front and 21” at the rear axle, a standard M Compound braking system, and the option of M Carbon brakes.
We just have to wait until August to meet the new BMW M5 Touring, which will be released later this year.
