BMW iX Gets a Power Boost and Fresh Look for 2026 – New Trim, More Range, and Faster Speeds

BMW is taking its flagship electric SUV, the iX, to the next level for 2026, delivering more power, sharper styling, and a new entry-level trim. The German automaker has refined the iX’s exterior, upgraded performance, and added new premium options, ensuring it stays competitive in the high-performance EV market.

The biggest headline? More horsepower, a new xDrive45 variant, and an upgraded M70 trim that now pumps out a staggering 650 HP—enough to rocket from 0-60 MPH in just 3.6 seconds!

BMW iX 2026 Lineup: More Power, More Range

BMW’s updated iX lineup now consists of three models, with the new iX xDrive45 taking over as the entry-level trim.

TrimHorsepowerRangeStarting Price
iX xDrive45402 HP312 miles$76,325
iX xDrive60536 HP340 miles$89,670
iX M70 xDrive650 HP302 miles$112,675

The iX xDrive45 brings impressive range (312 miles) and affordable performance at $76,325, making it an attractive option for new BMW EV buyers.

The mid-range iX xDrive60 now pushes out 536 HP (up from the previous 516 HP) and boasts 340 miles of range—solid numbers for long-distance EV drivers.

The iX M70 xDrive, however, steals the show, keeping its 650 HP output while still delivering 302 miles of range—one of the fastest electric SUVs in the world!

Refreshed Styling & New Sporty Features

While the performance upgrades take center stage, BMW has also introduced subtle yet impactful design changes:

  • New front bumper and redesigned grille for a bolder presence.
  • Restyled LED headlights with vertical daytime running lights.
  • New rear diffuser for a more aggressive stance (standard on the M70).

For the first time ever, the iX gets an M Sport Package, bringing:

  • Unique air intakes & M alloy wheels for a sportier look.
  • M Sport Professional Package (available on all models) featuring Shadowline headlights, black mirror caps, and a unique kidney grille.
  • 22-inch M alloy wheels, exclusive to the M70.

A Luxurious Interior With M Upgrades

Inside, BMW has stepped up the luxury game, offering M multi-function seats with optional ventilation—standard in the M70, available in the M Sport Package for the xDrive45 and xDrive60.

Other premium interior updates include:

  • New leather-wrapped M steering wheel.
  • M pedals for a sportier feel.
  • High-gloss black center console trim.
  • Two-tone instrument panel for a more premium aesthetic.

Production & Availability

BMW will begin production of the refreshed iX lineup in March 2025, with deliveries starting in Q2 of 2025.

The price increases are modest, considering the added power and styling upgrades:

  • The xDrive60 now costs $1,250 more than the outgoing xDrive50.
  • The M70 remains priced at $112,675, maintaining its high-performance appeal.

Final Thoughts: Is the 2026 BMW iX Worth It?

With a fresh design, new trim options, and significant performance boosts, the 2026 BMW iX continues to push the boundaries of luxury EVs. While Tesla and Rivian may dominate headlines, BMW is proving it can deliver a balance of luxury, range, and raw power—especially with the M70’s 650 HP monster status.

For those seeking premium electric SUVs with thrilling performance, the 2026 BMW iX lineup is more compelling than ever.
