BMW investe €650 milhões para produzir modelos 100% elétricos na fábrica de Munique

The BMW announced that it will produce the new electric model Neue Klasse, at the Munich factory from 2026. At the end of 2027, the German brand will put an end to the production of vehicles with combustion engines at the main factory, 75 years after the launch of the BMW 501 in 1952.

To transform the Munich factory into the first exclusive electric vehicle production unit, BMW will invest €650 million, for the construction of four new buildings, which will include new assembly lines and a new body production area.

After the start of production of the new electric models in the new factories in Debrecen, Hungary, and Munich, the Neue Klasse vehicles will also be produced in Shenyang, China, and in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

“The Munich factory is innovative and adaptable. Just like in the 1960s, the Neue Klasse is once again laying the foundation on which this production unit is reinventing itself. The comprehensive transformation that will take place will happen at the same time as we produce about 1000 vehicles per day. It is a common practice in Munich and is only possible thanks to the excellent performance of all our employees. We are very pleased to drive the Munich factory towards a fully electric future,” said Peter Weber, director of the BMW Group factory in Munich, in a statement.
