The blue badge created to identify vehicles with electric motors, so that they could circulate on reserved roads or park in exclusive areas for electric vehicles and benefit from reduced fees or exemption from parking payments, is no longer mandatory in the lower right corner of the car windshield.
The President of the Republic has approved the Decree that makes this “seal” no longer necessary for circulation in Portugal.
The measure, proposed by PAN and Iniciativa Liberal, had already been approved in the Assembly on October 12, 2023, followed by its discussion and final wording in the Committee on Economy, Public Works, Planning and Housing, with “green light” on January 5 of this year. The document has now been approved by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
The blue badge for Electric Vehicles was obtained for free from a regional service of IMT – Institute of Mobility and Transport. The owner only had to present the vehicle’s identification documents.
