Bills Face ‘Complex’ Decision on CB Tre’Davious White’s Future: Insider

Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White has returned to practice after a seven-month absence. Unfortunately, White’s offseason will be focused on rehabbing his second major injury in three seasons. He suffered a torn Achilles in October, just one year after returning from a torn ACL in 2022. Many speculate that the Bills may part ways with White to free up cap space, but one insider, Joe Buscaglia, suggests a different approach. He believes the team can restructure White’s contract in an unconventional way to keep him in Buffalo at a lower cost.

The Bills have a tough decision ahead regarding White’s future. With his injury history, some may argue that it’s time to move on. However, Buscaglia proposes a complex solution. By restructuring White’s contract, the team can potentially keep him on the roster while saving money. This alternative approach may offer a win-win situation for both parties involved.

White’s torn Achilles was confirmed through an MRI, leaving fans and teammates hoping for a successful recovery. The cornerback’s absence has undoubtedly been felt on the field, and his return to practice brings a glimmer of hope for the upcoming season. The Bills will need to carefully weigh their options and consider the long-term implications before making a final decision on White’s future with the team.

BUFFALO BILLS FACE UNCERTAINTY OVER TRE’DAVIOUS WHITE’S RETURN FROM INJURY

Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White’s return from a torn Achilles remains uncertain, according to reports. The injury typically requires at least a year of recovery time, but given White’s recent history with injuries, it could take even longer. Despite the potential cap space savings of over $6 million, the Bills seem reluctant to release their All-Pro cornerback.

General manager Brandon Beane stated that the team’s priority is to get White healthy before making any decisions. However, the lack of clarity regarding White’s recovery timeline makes it challenging for the Bills to determine their course of action during free agency. Complicating matters further, White is due a $1.5 million roster bonus shortly after the start of the new league year in March.

To find a compromise, it has been suggested that the Bills could offer White a contract extension. This extension would convert his 2024 base salary and roster bonus into a fully guaranteed signing bonus while adding two non-guaranteed years through 2027. The move would provide the Bills with over $7 million in cap savings while also incentivizing White to return from his injury and maintain the team’s strength in the cornerback position.

Following White’s injury, the Bills made some notable additions to their secondary. They brought back veteran Josh Norman for temporary coverage and acquired Rasul Douglas in a trade with the Green Bay Packers. These moves helped to mitigate the impact of White’s absence.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding White’s future, the Bills have expressed their commitment to his rehabilitation. Beane praised White’s dedication to his recovery and emphasized the team’s focus on getting him back on the field for the next season. While the Bills have depth in the cornerback position, a healthy Tre’Davious White is an invaluable asset that they hope to retain.

In conclusion, the Buffalo Bills face a difficult decision regarding Tre’Davious White’s injury and potential return. The team must weigh the financial implications against their high regard for the All-Pro cornerback. A contract extension that provides cap savings and motivates White to recover could be a viable solution. Despite the challenges, the Bills remain committed to getting White healthy and back on the field.
