Bell leaves position to join the growing list of departures from Alpine F1.

Experienced Formula 1 engineer, Bob Bell, has decided to part ways with Alpine, ending his role as advisor to the Enstone team. Bell had several stints with the team, starting in 1997 when it was known as Benetton, and returning later in 2001 when it became Renault. He played a crucial role as Technical Director, overseeing the design of the cars that led Fernando Alonso to consecutive F1 championships in 2005 and 2006. After the “Crashgate” scandal, Bell took on the role of Interim Team Principal and later became Executive Director. In 2014, he joined Mercedes as Technical Director, contributing to the success of their dominant W05 car. Bell then joined Renault’s revived F1 program as Technical Director before transitioning to a consulting role in 2018. Despite his reduced involvement in the F1 side, Bell continued to work part-time for Alpine Labs. Bell’s departure is part of a larger restructuring within the Alpine F1 organization, which has seen changes in leadership positions such as Team Principal and Technical Director. In an effort to turn their fortunes around, Alpine’s Team Principal, Bruno Famin, implemented a three-pronged technical structure, similar to McLaren’s model.
