Enea Bastianini stood out, setting an impressive lap time to take the lead in FP2 on his Ducati and secure a spot in Q2 for tomorrow’s MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix. Jack Miller, also representing KTM, maintained his strong performance from FP1 by finishing the session in second place, while Brad Binder finished not far behind in fifth.

Despite suffering his first crash of the season on the Gresini Ducati in the final minutes, Marc Marquez managed to secure a modest third place, aiming to secure consecutive pole positions. Current championship leader and reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia secured eighth place and advanced to Q2, along with his 2023 title rival Jorge Martin, who finished fourth.

Following a challenging outing in Qatar, both factory Yamaha riders managed to improve their positions in the final minutes, securing ninth and tenth place respectively and securing their spots in Q2. Alex Rins delivered a crucial lap to overtake rookie Pedro Acosta, ensuring that he and Fabio Quartararo advanced on their challenging 2024 YZR-M1.

Aleix Espargaró faced a tough weekend, with a late crash causing him to drop to 14th place. Maverick Vinales, on the other hand, secured seventh place and a spot in Q2 for tomorrow’s race. Unfortunately, Franco Morbidelli suffered further misfortune as a crash at the end of the session dropped him to 15th place.

Joan Mir, who had shown promise by finishing 10th in FP1 on his Honda, struggled to replicate that pace and ended up in 19th place. Luca Marini, riding the sister bike, finished last in the session.
