The McLaren Group has a new owner, the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which has taken full ownership of the British constructor, increasing its stake from 60% to 100%.
“We are very pleased with Mumtalakat’s continued commitment to McLaren through this agreement, which strengthens our ownership structure and governance. This will allow us to focus on implementing our long-term business plan, including investing in new products and technologies, while continuing to explore potential technical partnerships,” emphasized Paul Walsh, CEO of the McLaren Group, in a statement.
The reorganization now announced at McLaren Automotive paves the way for the brand’s strategy for developing new models and electrifying its range, as well as “exploring new partnerships to enhance the company’s growth in the coming years,” said Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat.
It is worth noting that the British supercar brand has faced financial difficulties in recent years, selling some of its historic vehicles in 2022 to fund the delayed Artura.
Still in 2022, the company welcomed a new CEO and launched the 750 S in 2023, as well as introduced a new GTS at the end of last year.
