Ayrton Senna’s 1991 McLaren F1 car: A £11 MILLION chance to own racing history!

In a jaw-dropping opportunity for motorsport enthusiasts and collectors alike, the iconic McLaren car driven by the legendary Ayrton Senna is hitting the auction block with an astounding price tag of £11 million! This isn’t just any car; it’s a piece of Formula 1 history that played a pivotal role in Senna’s illustrious career.

The year 1991 marked a significant chapter in Senna’s life as he clinched his third and final world championship title, solidifying his status as a racing titan. It was also the year he finally celebrated a long-awaited victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix, thrilling fans who had watched him strive for this moment for eight grueling years. With a stunning record of 41 career grand prix wins and a remarkable 65 pole positions—ranking him third on the all-time list, ahead of modern greats like Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen—Senna’s legacy is nothing short of legendary. Tragically, the racing world lost this icon too soon when he passed away at just 34 years old during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Now, the very McLaren MP4/6 chassis that Senna drove during that victorious 1991 season is up for grabs through RM Sotheby’s, having been preserved by McLaren for over three decades. This specific chassis is especially noteworthy as it was the first MP4/6 model, personally tested by Senna himself in February 1991. The car represents the final V-12-powered, manual gearbox model to win an F1 world championship, making it a significant artifact in the annals of racing history.

The auction is set to take place during the Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week from December 2-5, where it’s expected to fetch between £9 million and £11 million, making it potentially the fifth most expensive F1 car ever sold at auction. The current record holder, the 1954 Mercedes W196R Streamliner, sold for an eye-watering £42.7 million.

But that’s not all! The fortunate buyer of this extraordinary piece of machinery will receive an official McLaren Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring its place in history is recognized. To top it off, the new owner will benefit from a comprehensive package that includes all essential starting equipment, such as an external starter, water tower, remote dash, fuel primer, and engine pre-heater, making it a fully functional masterpiece.

This is more than just a car; it’s a chance to own a fragment of racing lore that defined an era and a driver. For those with deep pockets and a passion for F1, this auction is not to be missed! Will you be the one to take home this legendary piece of motorsport history? The clock is ticking!
