Icon of F1 and three-time champion Ayrton Senna, his personal Honda NSX, is now available for purchase on Auto Trader, the UK’s largest car market, for an impressive £500,000. The renowned vehicle, which holds great significance, is described as follows:
Recognized as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport, Ayrton Senna dominated the Formula 1 scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. With a total of 41 victories and three world titles with McLaren, his legacy remains intact. Tragically, Senna lost his life during the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola on May 1, 1994. However, his memory lives on, especially in his homeland, Brazil, where he is still revered. In 2010, a highly acclaimed film depicting his life was released.
The red Honda NSX, previously owned by Senna and currently in the hands of Robert McFagan, from East Sussex, is the most famous NSX associated with the Brazilian icon. This particular car was kept at his residence in Portugal, where he was photographed washing it in 1991.
McFagan, the current owner of the esteemed NSX, stated: “I bought this car in 2013 during a trip to the Algarve in Portugal, and have proudly owned it ever since. It has been a prominent feature on my property in East Sussex. Senna’s red NSX was a gift from Honda, with whom he had a business partnership. He used it frequently and was photographed with the car during his time in Portugal.”
“As a devoted fan of Senna, I was ecstatic when I had the opportunity to acquire the NSX. It is a meticulously designed vehicle, offering an elegant and powerful driving experience. Owning one of the most famous cars associated with a true sports legend has been an absolute pleasure, and the thrill of driving Senna’s car never diminishes.”
The red NSX also appeared in the movie “Racing is in my Blood”, showcasing Senna’s skill as he drifted the rear wheels. Additionally, Senna owned two other NSX cars, a personal black one in Brazil and another black NSX gifted to him by his manager Antonio Braga.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Senna’s tragic death in 2019, the red Honda NSX was taken to the Imola circuit, where it was driven by Giancarlo Minardi in front of a crowd of passionate Senna fans.
The NSX features a powerful engine, agile handling, aerodynamic design, and provides an exhilarating driving experience for those who take the wheel.
