The Portuguese Automobile Association (ACAP) revealed that car registrations in Portugal increased by 14.3% in April compared to the same period in 2023, with 20,895 new vehicles registered.
Overall, between January and April, 89,415 new vehicles were put into circulation in the market, representing a 13.4% increase compared to the same period the previous year, according to ACAP data.
By category, in April, 17,329 new passenger cars were registered in Portugal, representing a 7.6% increase compared to the same month the previous year.
In the first four months of 2024, passenger car registrations totaled 76,373 units, showing a positive variation of 11.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
The light commercial vehicle market saw a positive evolution of 83.9% in April compared to the same month the previous year, with 3,034 units registered.
In cumulative terms, the market reached 10,625 units, representing a 28% growth compared to the same period the previous year.
As for the heavy vehicle market, which includes both passenger and commercial types, there was a 2.7% increase in April compared to the same month in 2023, with 527 vehicles of this category being sold.
In the first four months of 2024, the enrollments in this category totaled 2417 units, which represented an increase in the market of 7.9% compared to the same period in 2023.
