The VW factory in Palmela, Portugal, Autoeuropa, will produce the brand’s new low-cost electric vehicle. For now, only the prototype iD.Every 1 is known, which anticipates the production model that will arrive in two years.
The news reported by Bloomberg cites VW’s CEO, Thomas Schäfer, who spoke to journalists in Wolfsburg, Germany, where he presented the results of the German brand, and indicated that production of the new model is expected to begin in two years.
The new iD.Every 1 measures 3.88 meters in length, 1.82 m in width, and 1.49 m in height, promising interior space similar to that of the Polo, and a trunk storage capacity of 305 liters.
This 100% electric model is based on the front-wheel-drive MEB platform and will feature an electric motor with 95 hp, capable of reaching a top speed of 130 km/h.
It is worth noting that the Autoeuropa factory in Palmela is the largest automotive production unit in Portugal and currently produces the T-Roc, VW’s compact SUV.
In 2024, VW announced that the Portuguese factory produced 236,100 units of the T-Roc, marking the second-largest production volume in Autoeuropa’s history.
