Autoeuropa will carry out temporary production stops in June and July, due to a restructuring for the decarbonization of the factory, but the Workers’ Committee (CT) has already stated that it does not accept salary penalties for the workers.
According to an internal statement released this Thursday by the CT of the VW car factory in Palmela, the company, as required by current legislation, informed that it intends to start negotiations next week for the implementation of “lay-off” for a period of eight days in June and 13 days in July.
The Autoeuropa CT states that, “in the context in which this ‘lay-off’ is applied, it will not accept any salary cuts for the workers”.
According to RTP, the coordinator of the CT, Rogério Nogueira, told the “Lusa” agency that the implementation of the “lay-off” “results from a context of investment and restructuring of the factory, not from any unforeseen situation, like the one that occurred last year due to problems with a supplier from Slovenia”.
