Team Penske’s Rising Star Hungers for Endurance Victory Amidst NASCAR Challenges

Team Penske’s triumph at the 2025 Rolex 24 was a significant milestone for the team and its young driver, Austin Cindric. The victory marked a perfect start to the year for Roger Penske, while Cindric embraced the opportunity to delve into endurance racing. Reflecting on his experience at the Daytona 24 Hours, Cindric expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The 24 Hours of Daytona has become a very meaningful event for me and my career.”

Cindric’s passion for endurance racing was evident as he shared his journey through the grueling Rolex 24 races he had participated in over the years. In 2025, driving the #64 Ford Mustang GT3 alongside Mike Rockefeller and Sebastian Priaulx, Cindric came closest to victory, securing a podium finish in the GTD Pro class. Despite his success, Cindric acknowledged the immense preparation and planning required for such prestigious events.

The young driver’s love for endurance racing traces back to his ventures in the LMP2 class in 2023 and his consistent performances in GT3 and LMP2 categories from 2019 to 2022. Cindric’s dedication to mastering the challenges of endurance racing was evident as he shared his experiences around the clock and the demanding nature of the sport.

Beyond his endurance racing endeavors, Cindric’s commitment to the racetrack is unwavering. With a family background deeply rooted in motorsports, Cindric emphasized his primary focus on racing, stating, “It’s all I’ve ever really been tested on… I definitely feel like my time is best used at the racetrack.”

While Cindric’s success in NASCAR is commendable, questions arose about his future at Team Penske following his father’s departure amid a controversy. However, Team owner Roger Penske reaffirmed his faith in Cindric, emphasizing his contractual obligations and the need for focus on winning races. The message was clear – Cindric’s performance on the track would dictate his long-term prospects with the team.

As Team Penske’s rising star continues to aim for victory in endurance racing while juggling his NASCAR responsibilities, the spotlight remains on Cindric’s pursuit of excellence amidst the challenges that lie ahead.
