High-performance cars continue to delight the hearts of fans, despite struggling to justify their existence through sales.
In the case of the Audi RS 6, the story is different, and although we already know the new generation of the RS 6 Avant, the previous generation continues to shine and record a record number of orders, despite being close to leaving the scene.
In this way, Audi Sport models recorded a 41% increase in sales in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2024, as revealed by Alina Seysen, sales and marketing spokesperson for Audi, in an interview with the German newspaper “Automobilwoche,” with the RS 6 being the main driver of this growth.
The current generation of the RS6 Avant was launched six years ago, which means that its life cycle is coming to an end. A redesigned version of the A6 Avant is already on sale in Europe, in fact, with the same updates as the next generation of the A6 sedan, which will arrive in the United States next fall.
The increase in sales of the RS 6 Avant in the first six months of the year may well have been boosted by Audi’s decision to equip the next generation with a plug-in hybrid engine, which is not very well received by purists.
It is good to remember that the current version is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine, which delivers a power of 630 hp in the Performance versions, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds.
Recall that last year Audi presented the RS6 Avant GT, a special edition inspired by the RS6 GTO Concept from 2020, limited to 660 units, and equipped with manually adjustable “coilover” suspension (10 mm lower), a specific-tuned quattro sport rear differential, and many carbon fiber components that helped reduce the total weight by 40 kg.
