Audi has announced that it is implementing ChatGPT, with artificial intelligence (AI) through Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, in the infotainment system of its models to improve the voice assistant capabilities of its vehicles.
In this way, the German brand revealed that from July, several million Audi models manufactured since 2021 and equipped with the third-generation Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB 3) will benefit from ChatGPT, and users will be able to interact with the car naturally and use the new function to control the infotainment, navigation, and climate systems through the voice assistant, and the vehicle is also capable of answering questions on various topics.
“With the seamless integration of ChatGPT into our voice assistant, we are combining the strengths of both applications,” says Marcus Keith, Head of Interior Development, Infotainment, and Connectivity at Audi. “In addition to a range of voice-controlled functions, our customers will now benefit from secure and safe access to AI-based knowledge. This is the next step towards the best in-vehicle experience for Audi vehicles.”
The four-ring brand also noted that new models like the Q6 e-tron and future models with the E3 1.2 electronic architecture will already be equipped with ChatGPT through Cerence Chat Pro as an extension of the Audi assistant.
