Audi termina com a produção do desportivo R8

The production of the Audi R8 has come to an end after 17 years and two generations, with the last example of the four rings’ sports car, an R8 V10 Performance finished in Vegas Yellow, destined for the brand’s museum in Ingolstadt, Germany.

The R8 production was initially scheduled to end by the end of 2023, but Audi extended production for another three months after receiving a high number of orders for the model, following the announcement of the end of the line for the R8 by the end of 2023.

The German brand has not yet revealed if the R8 will have a successor, but if it does, it will certainly be a 100% electric sports car, as the brand plans to produce its last combustion model in 2026, becoming a fully electric brand thereafter.

Remember that the R8 prototype was first presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003 to celebrate Audi’s success in endurance racing before advancing to production three years later. The second and final generation of the R8 was introduced in 2015, and it included an electric version, the R8 e-tron.

Initially, the Audi sports car was powered exclusively by a 4.2-liter V-8, but later the Ingolstadt house ended up equipping the model with a 5.2-liter V10.
