Aston Martin ordered to fire Lance Stroll.

Aston Martin mandado demitir Lance Stroll.

Fernando Alonso, a driver who has won the championship twice, made the switch from Alpine to Aston Martin at the beginning of the 2023 season.

Harry Benjamin, a Formula 1 commentator, recently expressed his belief that Aston Martin should consider replacing Lance Stroll to have a better chance of winning the World Championships.

This discussion has arisen within Aston Martin, as there are speculations about the possibility of bringing in Carlos Sainz instead of Stroll to replace Fernando Alonso.

Fernando Alonso, a driver who has won the championship twice, joined Aston Martin from Alpine at the beginning of the 2023 season.

He quickly established dominance over Stroll, earning 206 points out of the team’s total of 280.

Despite the performance difference between the two drivers, Stroll’s position seems secure mainly due to the fact that his father, billionaire Lawrence Stroll, owns the team.

Reports from Motorsport.com suggest that this family connection could put Alonso’s place in the team at risk, as there is a possibility of replacing him with Sainz.

Harry Benjamin, who is temporarily filling in for David Croft as a commentator on Sky Sports F1 for three races this season, expressed his opinion on the BBC Chequered Flag podcast that Stroll’s position in the team is only secure because of his father.

He emphasized the need for Aston Martin to reconsider Stroll’s role, especially considering his consistently below-par performance, even after receiving upgrades to his vehicle.

Benjamin stated: “There certainly must be a conversation at some point, unless he dramatically improves his performance – and even with an improvement this weekend, he didn’t have the pace advantage, admitted that in his interviews – and you have to question how long he can continue like this and be defeated every time.”

He also criticized Stroll’s contribution to the team, pointing out that Stroll’s lack of points was one of the main reasons why Aston Martin failed to finish in the top three in the Constructors’ Championship.

“Aston Martin lost a position in the top three in the Constructors’ Championship last year because they had only one driver scoring points.

“Okay, Stroll picked up a few points here and there, but he’s not pulling his weight in this team. Fernando Alonso is once again carrying the team.”

Benjamin concluded by emphasizing the need for a reliable second driver who can consistently score points.

“If Aston Martin wants to be a serious contender in Formula 1, they have the resources and finances to do so, but they need a second driver.

“Well, first of all, they need to keep Fernando Alonso and then they need a second driver who can score and secure points for them.”

Meanwhile, both Alonso and Sainz are attracting interest from other top teams.

Mercedes, led by Toto Wolff, is considering Alonso as a possible replacement for Lewis Hamilton, while Alonso has expressed interest in joining the current world champions.
