Aston Martin in Turmoil: Fernando Alonso Dreads a Disastrous F1 2025 Season
Aston Martin is in a state of emergency, grappling with a catastrophic start to the 2025 Formula 1 season that has left Fernando Alonso fearing he won’t be able to secure any points this year.
Despite a glimmer of hope with Lance Stroll finishing sixth in the rainy Australian Grand Prix and ninth in China after disqualifications, the Silverstone-based team is facing a continuation of their struggles from the previous season.
With only one top-10 qualifying result so far, Aston Martin is struggling to make an impact on the track, leaving both Stroll and Alonso fighting to advance beyond Q1 and Q2.
After a disappointing finish in Saudi Arabia, Alonso expressed his concerns, stating, “P11 is the worst position probably you can finish, and we need to get used to it. It’s going to be difficult to score points this year.”
As the team grapples with these challenges, Andy Cowell has called for immediate action, declaring that Aston Martin will convene for crisis talks to revamp their strategy and performance on the track.
Cowell emphasized the need to extract more performance from the car, acknowledging that improvements are necessary to move the team forward. Despite the current setbacks, Aston Martin remains focused on utilizing their resources, including the new wind tunnel and leadership structure, to enhance development.
While the team has the expertise of Adrian Newey at their disposal, his attention is primarily directed towards the 2026 season, leaving the immediate concerns of 2025 unanswered.
The recent crisis meeting may pave the way for a turnaround, but only time will reveal if Aston Martin can overcome their struggles in 2025 and emerge stronger in the competitive world of Formula 1.
