Paul Aron from Hitech Bull-Eight secured a narrow pole position in the Formula 2 Championship in Barcelona. Jack Crawford and Franco Colapinto finished in the top three, with only 0.006 seconds separating them.
During the qualifying session, Taylor Barnard caused a red flag after hitting the walls at Turn 9. Only a few drivers managed to set a lap time before the session was interrupted.
Championship leader Paul Aron initially set the fastest time, followed by Dennis Hauger and Franco Colapinto.
After the session resumed, some drivers, including Aron, decided to enter the pits to change tires.
Issak Hadjar briefly took the provisional pole position, with rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli in second place.
Zane Maloney finished in fourth place, just behind Aron. Ollie Bearman struggled and only managed to secure 18th place after the first lap.
All drivers returned to the pits to prepare for the final sequence of laps.
On the last lap of the session, Aron improved his time to secure the pole position. Crawford finished in second place, only 0.002 seconds behind Aron. Colapinto came in third, 0.006 seconds off the pole position.
No one was able to improve further, confirming Aron’s pole position.
Crawford and Colapinto completed the top three, with Gabriel Bortoleto in fourth and Antonelli in fifth.
Miyata, Durksen, Correa, Martins, and Maini completed the top 10. Notable names missing from the top 10 included Bearman, Zane Maloney, and the Campos drivers.
