Antonio Felix da Costa is set to make a sensational return to IMSA SportsCar Championship action as part of Inter Europol Competition’s formidable lineup for the 2025 season. The Portuguese ace, a seasoned sportscar driver and former Le Mans winner, will headline the Polish outfit’s assault on the LMP2 category, starting with the prestigious 24 Hours of Daytona on January 25-26.
A Seven-Year Gap and a Proven Record
Da Costa, who last raced in IMSA at Daytona in 2018 with Jackie Chan DC Racing, has since honed his craft in high-level endurance series. His four-season stint in LMP2 and Hypercar machinery with JOTA and prior experience with BMW in GTE Pro racing make him a highly valuable addition to Inter Europol’s roster.
“I’m very happy to get myself a shot at the Daytona 24 Hours, especially with the championship-winning team from IMSA last year,” said da Costa. “Inter Europol has accomplished a lot in the last few years, so it’s the perfect place for me to come back into the LMP2 class, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Inter Europol’s Dominance and Ambitions
Fresh off their triumph in the 2024 IMSA LMP2 championship, Inter Europol has set its sights on defending their title with a star-studded driver lineup. The team, known for its success in both the FIA WEC and IMSA circuits, has opted to operate independently for the upcoming season after a fruitful collaboration with PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports.
Returning drivers Tom Dillmann, a key figure in their 2024 campaign, and Jon Field, a veteran of American sportscar racing, bring a wealth of experience and success to the team. Rising star Bijoy Garg, fresh off an LMP2 victory at Le Mans with United Autosports, rounds out the promising lineup.
A Powerhouse Team for Daytona
Inter Europol’s Daytona lineup reflects a blend of proven winners and rising talent, underlining their intent to dominate in 2025:
- Antonio Felix da Costa: Former Le Mans winner, experienced in Hypercar and LMP2 categories.
- Tom Dillmann: Returning champion and endurance specialist.
- Jon Field: A seasoned IMSA competitor with extensive American Le Mans Series experience.
- Bijoy Garg: Young talent with a Le Mans LMP2 win under his belt.
Field expressed his excitement about joining the team: “I’m thrilled to be back racing in the IMSA championship once again. Inter Europol’s strong pedigree in LMP2 racing gives me great confidence as we aim for another championship title.”
The Road to Daytona and Beyond
Inter Europol will kick off their 2025 campaign at the iconic 24 Hours of Daytona, a race that sets the tone for the entire season. With their championship-winning pedigree and a driver lineup featuring da Costa’s return, expectations are high for another triumphant run in the LMP2 class.
