Title: Antonio Felix da Costa Responds to Controversy After Thrilling Jaguar 1-2 Finish in Madrid E-Prix

In a race filled with drama and tension, Antonio Felix da Costa emerged victorious at the Madrid E-Prix, but not without igniting a fierce debate among his Jaguar teammates. Mitch Evans, who had delivered a stunning drive from 16th to challenge for the win, was left seething as team strategy sidelined his chances at glory. With emotions running high, this race has become one of the most talked-about events in Formula E history.

Da Costa, starting in fourth position, executed a flawless strategic display, marking his second consecutive win at the iconic Jarama circuit. However, as the race neared its climax, Evans was hot on his tail, seemingly poised to snatch victory from his teammate. The first single-header E-Prix to incorporate Pit Boost saw the tension escalate, with both drivers vying for supremacy.

But when it mattered most, team orders prevented Evans from launching a full-scale assault on da Costa’s lead. The Kiwi was heard on the team radio expressing his frustration, branding the decision a “dog s**t decision.” While it’s understandable for Evans to feel aggrieved about the missed opportunity, he maintained a sense of camaraderie with da Costa, ultimately contributing to a historic 1-2 finish for Jaguar in front of a sold-out crowd.

Post-race, da Costa acknowledged Evans' frustrations, stating, “I know Mitch is frustrated because he had a race where he came from the back and then he was able to put himself in a position to go for the win.” He emphasized that his own strategy was meticulously planned, allowing him to control the race from the front. “From my end, I actually think I had enough energy to keep anyone behind. That’s why I was leading when I was. That was all planned,” he explained.

The Portuguese driver, now sitting second in the championship standings, reflected on the intense competition and the necessity of keeping calm amidst the chaos. “Honestly, after the pit stop, I thought, man, it’s going to be a chill one to the end! And then it wasn’t! Far from it,” he revealed. His ability to adapt throughout the race proved crucial as he maneuvered through the pressure of fast-approaching competitors, including Dan Ticktum and Pascal Wehrlein.

Da Costa’s recent success marks him as a serious contender for the title, and he is fully aware of the delicate dynamics within the team. Aware of Evans' past heartbreak from a strategic blunder that cost him the Season 10 championship, da Costa hinted that he may have to defer to his teammate in future races. “Maybe next race I’m the one to have to give it up,” he noted, demonstrating a spirit of teamwork amidst the competitive rivalry.

As the season progresses, the battle for the championship is heating up, with da Costa, Evans, and Wehrlein well-placed among the frontrunners. The fierce competition, coupled with strategic decisions, is sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats as the drivers look ahead to the next race.

In a season filled with unexpected twists, the Madrid E-Prix has solidified itself as a pivotal moment in the Formula E calendar. Who will seize the next opportunity, and how will team dynamics play out in future races? One thing is for certain: the drama is far from over.
