Paris, France – The roar of endurance racing just got louder. Alpine Endurance Team has confirmed the signing of António Félix da Costa, one of motorsport’s most versatile and decorated modern drivers, for its FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar program.

The Portuguese star joins the team on a multi-year deal, bringing with him a rare combination of speed, experience, and technical finesse — and a résumé that stretches across nearly every corner of world-class racing.

A Racer Built for Every Battlefield

Félix da Costa, 33, is the ultimate definition of a complete driver. From his beginnings in Formula Renault to testing for Formula 1 teams, to conquering the street circuits of Formula E and the punishing 24-hour marathons of Le Mans, the Cascais-born talent has proven himself time and again in every arena.

He’s a two-time Macau Grand Prix winner, a Formula E world champion (2019–2020), and the reigning FIA Hypercar Teams’ World Cup winner. Along the way, he’s added an LMP2 World Endurance Championship title and a 24 Hours of Le Mans class victory to his already extraordinary career tally.

Now, he returns to the FIA WEC’s premier category — this time in blue.

“It’s the Perfect Time to Join Alpine”

Fresh from his first test in the A424 Hypercar at Le Mans’ Bugatti Circuit, Félix da Costa was all smiles when the news broke.

“I am delighted to join Alpine Endurance Team,” he said. “Returning to the FIA WEC was one of my main goals, and to do so with a manufacturer as ambitious and iconic as Alpine is incredible. The team’s victory with the A424 shows that they’re ready to fight at the top, and I want to be part of that story. My goal now is to help Alpine climb to the very pinnacle of endurance racing.”

Next up for the Portuguese ace? The official Rookie Test in Bahrain, where he’ll take the wheel of Alpine’s A-arrow Hypercar in front of the world’s endurance racing elite.

Alpine’s Vision: A Star Signing for a Serious Mission

Nicolas Lapierre, Alpine’s Sporting Director and a former endurance racer himself, emphasized what makes Félix da Costa the ideal fit for Les Bleus’ championship ambitions.

“António brings exactly what we were looking for: speed, experience, and a deep understanding of endurance racing and Le Mans. His achievements speak for themselves — he’s complete, charismatic, and will integrate quickly. Together, we want to make Alpine a permanent fixture at the top of the WEC.”

Team Principal Philippe Sinault added that this partnership had been years in the making.

“We’ve known each other for a long time, and there’s always been mutual respect and the wish to work together. António is a pure racer — fast, committed, and a leader inside any garage he joins. He embodies everything Alpine stands for: passion, precision, and performance.”

A Career Defined by Triumphs

From the twisting streets of Macau to the long straights of Le Mans, Félix da Costa’s trophy cabinet tells the story of a driver built on adaptability and resilience.

Career Highlights:

  • 2023: FIA Hypercar Team World Cup Winner
  • 2022: FIA WEC LMP2 World Champion & Le Mans LMP2 Winner
  • 2020: Formula E World Champion
  • 2016 & 2012: Macau Grand Prix Winner
  • 2009: Formula Renault NEC Champion

He’s also amassed 33 FIA WEC starts, 15 podiums, and three outright victories, establishing himself as one of the most consistent performers in endurance racing’s modern era.

A New Chapter in Blue

Alpine’s return to form in 2025 — highlighted by its maiden victory with the A424 — has sent a clear message: Les Bleus are back. With Félix da Costa now part of the team’s long-term plans, the French manufacturer is doubling down on its ambition to challenge Toyota, Ferrari, and Porsche for overall supremacy in the Hypercar class.

“We share the same racing DNA,” Sinault said. “António brings the experience of a world champion and the fire of a racer who always wants more. Together, we’re ready to take Alpine even higher.”
