António Félix da Costa competed in his final race in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) for now last Saturday, before focusing on Formula E in 2024. With the Hertz Team JOTA Porsche #38 alongside Will Stevens and Yiefei Ye, he was in the fight for the podium in the 8 Hours of Bahrain, finishing third after a penalty delayed the trio.
In a statement, the Portuguese driver said that despite the outcome falling short of the demonstrated pace, he was pleased with the race: ‘It was a special race for me, my last one in the WEC for now. We gave everything to finish on the podium, but the penalty we received pushed us to fourth place. Anyway, I am happy with this end of the season, we were stronger than the official Porsche cars and fought against the Ferraris on equal terms. Clearly, it was our best race of the year, and closing like this is a sign of the huge potential of the Hertz Team JOTA.’
In his “see you later” to the WEC, Félix da Costa promised to return in the future to pursue the greatest successes: ‘For now, I say goodbye to this team, which is a great family, but I am certain that we will meet again soon. The story does not end here, I want to come back to fight for the WEC World title and victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.’
