Revving Up the Future: Anthony Hamilton Unveils the Groundbreaking HybridV10 Series!

In an electrifying move that could shake the very foundations of motorsport, Anthony Hamilton, father of the legendary seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, has announced the launch of an innovative racing series known as HybridV10. With the relentless march of time and the 2026 regulations effectively closing the door on the iconic V8 and V10 engines, this new series promises to revive the thrilling sounds and sensations of yesteryear while embracing cutting-edge technology and sustainability.

What exactly is HybridV10? This revolutionary racing platform is not just another junior feeder series; it is a global competition designed to run parallel to existing championships, bringing back the roar of V8 and V10 engines that fans have sorely missed. Launched with the bold tagline, “Real Racing, real talent, real skill and proper sound,” HybridV10 aims to reclaim the excitement of top-tier single-seater racing that defined the late 90s and early 2000s.

Hamilton has spent the past year meticulously developing this concept, and the time has come to bring it into the spotlight. With financial backing already secured, the stage is set for a racing experience that promises to address the pressing concerns of motorsport enthusiasts who feel that contemporary racing has lost its edge. As Hamilton boldly states, “My intention is to strip away complexity and put the focus back on the driver,” emphasizing that this series will be free from artificial performance management. “Ultimately, I want pure, authentic racing focused on driver talent.”

The Engine Behind the Excitement

At the heart of HybridV10 lies a two-tier single-seater racing platform that combines simplified technology with the fan-favorite V8 and V10 engines. The championship will feature two main categories: the headline series powered by naturally aspirated hybrid V10 engines and a supporting series utilizing hybrid V8 engines. Each category will boast a competitive 24-team grid, ensuring that every team fields a single entry, promoting equality and competitiveness throughout the series.

In a bid to keep costs manageable and maintain a high level of reliability, HybridV10 will adopt a spec series format, akin to that of Formula 2 and 3. This strategic choice will allow drivers to truly showcase their skills without being overshadowed by exorbitant budgets or complex technologies.

Crucially, HybridV10 seeks to create a new avenue for professional drivers, steering clear of the pay-driver model that plagues many racing series today. Rather than serving merely as a stepping stone to F1, this series will provide a high-level platform where talent reigns supreme. To compete, drivers must earn a ‘Hybrid Super Licence’ from the Hybrid World Commission, based on their competitive results, simulator data, technical knowledge, fitness, and professionalism. This rigorous selection process ensures that only the best make the cut.

A Pathway for Emerging Talent

Hamilton’s vision extends beyond the established stars; he aims to nurture the next generation of motorsport champions through initiatives like the ‘Sim-to-Seat’ pathway. This innovative program is designed to give aspiring drivers, who may lack the financial resources to compete, a chance to shine while maintaining their academic commitments. The Motorsport Draft League will further spotlight emerging talent, ensuring that no promising driver is left behind in the race for success.

The proposed calendar for HybridV10 is equally ambitious, with plans for 12 events per year set to avoid conflicts with major championships like F1 and IndyCar. The series is eyeing FIA Grade 1-standard venues, including fan-favorite tracks like Sepang, Mugello, and Kyalami, promising to deliver thrilling races in stunning locations. The Eco Loop travel model aims to minimize environmental impact, traveling efficiently across regions from the Middle East to Australia.

As HybridV10 gears up for its inaugural season, Hamilton is adamant about the importance of fan engagement. “What matters most to me is making sure this is something the fans truly want to follow,” he insists. The success of this groundbreaking series hinges on building a loyal global fan base eager to support this radical shift in motorsport.

With the potential to redefine racing as we know it, Anthony Hamilton’s HybridV10 series is set to ignite the passions of motorsport fans around the world. Buckle up, because the future of racing is about to get a whole lot louder!
