Alex Palou Dominates Qualifying Once Again, Andretti Drivers Struggle to Keep Up in Indy Showdown

In a stunning display of speed and precision, Alex Palou once again showcased his dominance by clinching the pole position for the Sonsio Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The NTT IndyCar Series leader continued his remarkable form, laying down a blistering lap time of 1:09.3417s to secure the top spot on the grid, leaving his competitors trailing behind.

Palou, behind the wheel of the #10 DHL car, attributed his success to a fresh set of soft tires, giving him the edge over the rest of the field. This pole position marked his eighth career pole and second of the 2025 season, solidifying his status as a formidable force in the series.

The qualifying session saw a strong showing from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLLR), with all three drivers making it into the Fast 6. Graham Rahal led the charge in second place, followed by rookie Louis Foster in third and Devlin DeFrancesco in fifth. The RLLR team’s impressive performance highlighted their potential ahead of the race.

On the other hand, Andretti Global’s drivers faced a challenging qualifying session, with none of them managing to crack the Fast 12. Kyle Kirkwood, Colton Herta, and Marcus Ericsson all struggled to find pace on the Indianapolis road course, leaving them with a mountain to climb in the race.

Kirkwood, currently third in the championship standings, expressed his frustration with the qualifying outcome, citing a tire strategy gamble that did not pay off. Herta, despite being content with the car’s balance, lamented the lack of overall grip that hampered their performance. The Andretti drivers, known for their competitiveness, now find themselves starting further back on the grid, eager to make up ground in the race.

As the stage is set for an intense showdown at the Sonsio Grand Prix, all eyes will be on Palou as he aims to convert his pole position into another victory. With RLLR looking strong and Andretti drivers hungry for redemption, the race promises to deliver high-octane action and unpredictable twists. Stay tuned for all the adrenaline-pumping moments as the IndyCar Series roars into Indianapolis for a thrilling battle on the track.
