Andretti Formula 1 Team Defiant After Rejection by Commercial Rights Holder

In a shocking turn of events, the Andretti Formula 1 team, backed by General Motors, has been rejected by the commercial rights holder. Despite previously receiving approval from the FIA, F1 declared that the Andretti Formula Racing application, operating under the name Andretti Cadillac, “should not be successful.” This decision has left the team in disagreement and determined to continue their preparations for a prospective entry.

F1’s review of Andretti’s bid highlighted several concerns, including doubts about the team’s potential competitiveness, their engine arrangement, and the value they would bring to the championship. Of particular concern was Andretti’s plan to enter in 2025 with a car built to one set of rules, while simultaneously designing a new car to comply with different regulations in 2026. F1 expressed skepticism, stating that this approach “gives us reason to question their understanding of the scope of the challenge involved.”

Furthermore, F1 emphasized that Andretti, despite their success in categories such as IndyCar and Formula E, would be facing a unique challenge that they have not encountered before. F1 suggested that Andretti would not be a competitive participant due to their short-term engine supply. However, Andretti Cadillac has responded to F1’s concerns, strongly disagreeing with the contents of the review.

“Andretti and Cadillac are two successful global motorsports organizations committed to placing a genuine American works team in F1, competing alongside the world’s best,” Andretti Cadillac stated. They expressed pride in the progress they have made thus far, highlighting the development of a highly competitive car and power unit with an experienced team behind it. Undeterred by F1’s rejection, Andretti Cadillac will continue their work at a rapid pace.

Despite not directly addressing F1’s specific points, Andretti’s determination to press forward indicates that they do not view this rejection as the final verdict. It is widely speculated that Andretti will challenge F1’s decision, although they have yet to confirm if legal action will be taken. One potential factor to consider is F1’s indication that they would reconsider if Andretti applies for an entry in 2028 with a General Motors engine. However, this possibility seems contingent on Andretti Cadillac joining the grid as requested for 2025 and reaching a short-term customer engine deal in the meantime.

In a stunning turn of events, Lewis Hamilton has made the decision to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 season. This bombshell move has left fans and experts alike questioning the future of both teams. Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes, even before getting the chance to drive their latest W15, is a clear indication of his lack of confidence in his current team. It is a major blow for Mercedes, who have enjoyed a successful partnership with the seven-time world champion.

The news of Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has sent shockwaves throughout the F1 community. Many believed that Hamilton and Mercedes would be a partnership that would last for years to come. However, it seems that Hamilton has other plans. While some may see his decision as selfish, it is important to respect his choice.

Both Ferrari and Mercedes have officially acknowledged Hamilton’s departure. This is a significant moment in the world of motorsport, as one of the sport’s biggest stars makes a bold move to a new team. The question now is who will fill the void left by Hamilton at Mercedes. Will they look for another champion like Hamilton, a ‘Bottas’ equivalent, or will they turn to a rising star? Only time will tell.

At The Race, we strive to provide the best motorsport coverage for fans, whether they are die-hard enthusiasts or new to the sport. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the world of Formula 1.
